Pomegranate Afternoons

Nikon D40
35mm, f/8, 1/15 sec, ISO 200
SB-600 @ 1/64 Power @ 14mm

I actually really hate strobist work (largely because I don’t understand how it works, but mostly because I just don’t enjoy working with it), but this is a shot I’ve been wanting to try for a long, long time now and when I saw that the Nikon D40/x/60 Challenge Group’s theme for this week was “flare”, I figured it was time to go ahead and try it out. It took about an hour’s worth of trial and error until I got the hand and body placement relative to the strobe correct. For the most part, this image is SOOC; the only post-processing done was a bit of cloning (there was a bit of the wall behind the flash showing), a touch of added contrast and of course, the crop.
