Don’t be confused; it’s not the Washington Monument. It’s the Bunker/Breeds Hill Monument, commemorating the [misnamed] Battle of Bunker Hill. I was here as part of the Boston Photo Mob walk that I mentioned in the past couple posts.
For the curious, the Bunker Hill Monument is roughly about 40% as tall as the Washington Monument and is indeed located atop Breeds Hill. Solomon Willard was the designer of the monument and according to the Secretary of the Building Committee, “worked like a dog” to get the construction completed.
The coloration of the photograph is largely due to the use of filters and not so much due to post processing, although the post did increase the impact of what was already there.
