The reason for this site’s existence is simple. I am a photographer and I believe a photograph does not simply show you its contents, it is not an article in the school newspaper. It is, however, a story, or at the very least it contains one. One of the elements that surmise the story is indeed the subject itself, but that is just one element- one element of many.
One of those major elements, in my opinion, is that of the perspective. A photographer intentionally has to ignore some elements of his or her environment and intentionally include others. We do not just see something interesting and snap away at it. We might angle left or right to include a leaf and exclude a post. We might move in to emphasize a branch- the support system for so many leaves- but we might also move in a touch to exclude the dying leaves- those small failures each of us endures in life. We include and exclude from our photographs what we will for whatever reason, artistic, personal, whatever. My reasons are simple and they are my own. I want to discover and display the beauty in something no one else finds beautiful or something whose beauty everyone else chooses to ignore. I want to find miracles in dark alleys and I want to see everything in a new frame. I compose my world with those intentions. I frame my world with the hopes of finding the truly breathtaking.
What would you leave out? What would you keep in?
Simply put, how will you frame your world?
